The raw materials get mixed and wet-ground based on the grade of tungsten carbide required. In the spraying tower’s current of hot gas they then get turned into free-flowing tungsten carbide powder.
As the tungsten carbide powder gets compressed in moulds – into so-called green compacts – it consolidates to c. 50% of the final density.
Through sintering in our furnaces the tungsten carbide with its excellent properties is then produced. Precise management of the process, which requires both expert knowledge and lots of experience, determines the grade.
