QUALITY ASSURANCE >> MATERIALS DEVELOPMENT

In addition to careful analysis of supplied raw materials, examination of our own powder mixes is also essential for quality assurance, as well as checks on semi-finished and finished products and sintered parts.

The large number of tasks performed in the lab includes, for example, measuring hardness, establishing magnetic properties and determining levels of carbon and oxygen content.
The laboratory is equipped with state of the art equipment, e.g.:

  • ICP spectrometer for elemental analysis
  • Various light-optical microscopes for assessing microstructures
  • Scanning electron microscope with up to 10,000x zoom
  • A lab attritor for process and product development
  • A grinding stand and rotary evaporator
  • A lab furnace for quasi-production sintering

The comprehensive range of experiments run in the lab includes tests of density, transverse rupture strength and wear, especially in the case of the varying grades of tungsten carbide.
